Classical Guitar Performance

Ben Schenstead has given performances in classical guitar in Saskatchewan, Alberta and Ontario, and has played in many festivals and special events both as a soloist and in guest artist with various ensembles. Schenstead has been heard many times on CBC Radio, both provincially and nationally, and he has also appeared on national television. Schenstead has been a guest soloist with the Prairie Virtuosi Orchestra, and the distinguished Amati Quartet of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Schenstead has also performed with members of the Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra in major musical theatre productions, including Fiddler on the Roof and Man of La Mancha.

Ben Schenstead has given guitar performances for the University of Saskatchewan where he taught guitar from 1982-2001, the NorthWest Guitar Festival, Lethbridge, Alberta, the E.A Rawlinson Centre Art Gallery, Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, and the Fine Arts Concert Series for the University of Regina.

Ben Schenstead is in demand as a soloist and ensemble player in Saskatchewan, where he is held in high regard for his teaching and the attainment of his students, who include some of the more notable players of the region.

Schenstead's repertoire leans toward Latin American and Spanish classical, Baroque music, and contemporary compositions with jazz/classical crossover influences.
